AE Retaining Wall

Introduction : -
1. AE Retaining Wall is a soil reinforced system by galvanized steel bars & anchored to precast concrete blocks.
2. The facing is vertical consisting of modular hexagonal shaped concrete panels interlocked together.
3. The advantages of this system is :-
a) Rapid & easy construction
b) Aesthetically pleasing
c) Flexibility.
4. The wall to be in 2-tier system in which the upper-tier to be 1.5m offset inward from lower-tier, in compliance to the local authority requirement.

Construction resources needed for AE wall are : -
1. Material
a) Percast concrete facing panel & level pad
b) Anchor block
c) Reinforcing bar
d) Granular backfill material
2. Machinery
a) Excavator
b) Spreader/ bulldozer/ backhoe
c) Small compactor
d) Lorries for transporting backfill/ earth/ facing panel
e) Water pump/ robin engine
3. Supporting Tools
a) Spanner
b) Brow bar ¾”-1” diameter & 3-4 ft long
c) Hammer
d) Spirit level (3ft)
4. Accesoties
a) Wooden clamps completed wt long bolt
b) Wooden wedges

The live load assumed for this design is 20kN/m2
Material properties adopted for design :
a) Precast concrete panel : Fcu = 30MPa
b) Reinforced rebar : Fy = 1570MPa
Selected backfill material
: Density = 20kN/m2
: 01 (effective) = 360
: C1 = 0kN/m2

Foundation Soil:
: Density = 20kN/m2
: 03 = 300
: C3 = 5kN/m2
